Iceland
The ethereal imagery is drawn from a recent trip to Iceland. This was an opportunity to experiment with colour prints, as the majority of my work to date is taken on black and white film. Combining walking and film photography means lugging around a lot of equipment. Each photograph is a moment where I've stopped walking, taken a breath, decided it's worth the cost of the film, and then waited until the film is developed to find out if it even worked. This all helps me show another, contemplative view of the world. With expired colour film, everything has a softness and dreamlike colour shifts. The use of old technology unmoors the pictures from time, displacing them from current reality. This work has been shown in multiple exhibitions and forms the basis for the book 'Analogue colour landscape'.
